I Wish

I'm cleaning the kitchen
in a clockwise direction

with Joni for company

I sing along
and as always, get the lyric wrong

my memory won't learn her sentiment,
substituting mine instead

none of my rivers freeze
and when I wish for them
I imagine sailing,
sailing
away
in the breeze,

leaving behind the holiday season
and all those people
still cutting down trees.

  1. Wow. This is good. Not that I don't think you'd be capable of it but because I have never yet seen contemporary blog poetry that doesn't make me cringe.

  2. Thanks Girl :) there sure is a lot of cringe about (I'm sure I'm guilty of it here and there also) so it's nice to hear when someone thinks I've sidestepped it!
